$2.5 Billion in Maintenance Needs

Road with potholes

The latest report from the state’s Department of Transportation shows North Carolina has $2.5 billion in maintenance needs.

Due to an influx of people and businesses moving to North Carolina, the lack of investment and resources means our roads are deteriorating, unsafe, and congested, costing NC drivers $3.4 Billion each year and too many lives.

Safety

NC ranked in the Top 10 for states with the most dangerous roads. Unfortunately, our rural fatality rate is one of the highest in the nation because our rural roads are unsafe and not adequately maintained.

Costing NC Drivers

Whether it is sitting in congestion or North Carolinians having to make costly repairs to their vehicles sustained while driving on deteriorating roads, this fact is costing North Carolina drivers.

The Solution

Legislators are now considering new legislation to raise revenues by modernizing North Carolina’s transportation revenue model. We encourage legislators to ensure that any solutions are fair and build a sustainable model for our future.
