Gov. Cooper Urges President Biden to Phase Out Gas-Powered Vehicle Sales by 2035

According to an April 21, 2021, Reuters article, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper joined 12 other governors in signing a letter to the Biden administration to urge ending sales of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035.

This letter must dramatically escalate the sense of urgency needed by leaders to modernize North Carolina’s transportation revenue model given that over 60% of transportation revenues are derived from the gas tax.

Hopefully, Governor Cooper will elaborate on his views on modernizing the revenue stream since he signed this letter calling for a “start date” of the “dramatic shift away from fossil fuels.”
